Overwhelmed by schoolwork? Let learners explain it to each other!
Feb 11, 2025The Grade 9 students at Green School SA felt overwhelmed. They complained about having too much work. Instead of immediately providing a solution, their teacher, Ella, handled it in a smart way—she invited Grade 10 students to share how they manage their time.
Six of them created a presentation filled with facts, tips, and personal experiences - attached to this post. Each of them had their own way of handling homework:
🔹 "I do home work immediately when I get how."
🔹 "I rest first, have diner, work on my hobbies and like to do my homework from 9pm till 11pm and go to bed."
It was great to see them share their personal examples.
One of the best pieces of advice they gave was:
👉 "Have a goal, know why you're doing it."
They also received questions from the Grade 9 learners. This one stood out to me:
💡 "Is the problem the person's mentality or the distraction?"
The response: "You can create your own circumstances, especially during homework.”
Another question: "But what if the teacher talks too much during the lesson? Then I have to do more work after school."
The response: "Then you can ask if, next time, once you understand what is expected, you may start working while the teacher continues explaining to the rest of the class."
And this remark is one I won’t forget:
🕒 "Time management is about respect for yourself and respect for your work.
Further in life no one will stand behind your back."
You'll find the students full presentation here!
How do you approach this at your school? Do you explain the importance of time management yourself, or do you let learners with experience guide others?
